TV Tuesday: Have You Got Your Key?

Following in the footsteps of AMC's Mad Men, NBC brings the 60s to life this Autumn with their new show, The Playboy Club. The show looks like it will be just as stylish as MM, with an added dash of gloss and pinch more sex. What do you think? Will you be checking in to The Playboy Club come September?

Music Monday: Introducing Kathy Beth Terry

I love this video!

But, what I dislike about this video is:
1. Rebbecca Black (so, what I'm taking from this video is that I have to release a mind melting autotuned-to-death song, and get ridiculed by every Tom Dick and Harry with an internet connection, then I can meet Katy Perry and be in her next video?)
2. No extended Kevin McHale dance routine, man that boy can MOVE!

Weekend Shopping List: Birthday Party Edition

This weekend sees the celebration of one of my Best Friend's Birthdays, an occasion which definitely calls for a new dress and some party shoes. As I tend to stick to dark colours during the day, I have decided to keep a look out for something bright and fun to wear for my G.N.O (Girls Night Out for all the non-Miley Cyrus fans out there). So what better colour to pick for a girl's night than pink right? I had a scour on ASOS this morning to get an idea of the kind of thing I might like, and I found a couple of gorgeous dresses that would be perfect for the occasion (see above, specifically the Coast dress which I am IN LOVE with). Dresses as fabulous as this call for some fabulous accessories, so I also had a trawl through the shoes and bags section. I came across some great matches, and I think these silver platform sandals would look great with the sexy Lipsy dress and a turquoise clutch to match the heel and the platform colour block. Also, don't you think acid yellow and fuchsia pink make a great colour statement? Not exactly one for the shy and retiring type, but if you have a little bit of Paris Hilton or Elle Woods in you, why the hell not?

One Shoulder LIPSY Dress,Strapless Pleated COAST Dress, Silver Platform SANDALS , Yellow Round-Toe PUMPS, TURQUOISE Clutch, YELLOW Clutch.

Princess Vs. Princess

So, who wore this Jenny Packham gown better? The Duchess of Cambridge or the Princess of the Upper East Side?
Without a doubt I'm going to give my vote to Kate Middleton (sorry Blair). This dress looks like it was custom made for her, it's so Princessy without being OTT. Plus, her lush hair definitely beats Blair's scrunched 80s curls (seriously GG hair stylists, what were you thinking when you did this to my beloved Leighton?!)

2011 Glamour Women of the Year Awards: Best Dressed

Yet again there was a serious lack of actual glamour at Glamour magazine's Women of the Year awards. For all the fuss foreigners make of British style, we sure don't show it off when we get the chance (see also the Brit awards and various TV awards). The only British event I'm never let down by is the BAFTAs, but there again, it is mainly the American stars that get me excited.

Back to last night's shindig, and there are four people that I feel the need to give mention to for their glamorous efforts.

First up we have Jessie J. OMG right!? Don't worry if it takes you a second or two to recognise her because I didn't believe it either. She looks amazing, so classically stunning. Without a see through bodysuit or over made-up face in sight. The neutral makeup and Hollywood waves are beautiful, I hadn't realised how pretty she was until now.
Next is Katherine Jenkins in a gorgeous coral Victoria Beckham dress with black detail. All Katherine seems to wear is Victoria Beckham, but she always looks beautiful so, as they say, if it ain't broke don't fix it. I love the loose up-do, I try to create a similar style with my hair all the time, it's surprising how much time and effort a no-effort-looking 'do can take.
Then we have Rosie Huntington-Whitely, or 'the new Megan Fox' as I keep explaining her as to people not in the know. As a model (ex-model?) she is bound to always look smoking hot, but she keeps it classy and stays away from the Herve Leger bandage dresses that seem to be the uniform of a Victoria Secret model. She is glowing in this metallic nude Stella McCartney design. I love that her hair, skin, dress, shoes and clutch are all in similar shades.
Finally I've picked out Kristen Wiig. America's newest comedienne on the block looked an absolute knock out in this mustard J.Mendel dress, and was my favourite of the night. SEE?! At a British event, and American still gets my pick for best dressed. I haven't really taken much notice of Kristen on the red carpet before, but I will definitely be keeping an eye out for her from now on if this look is anything to go by.

2011 MTV Movie Awards: Best Dressed

Last night saw the 2011 MTV Movie Awards take place in Los Angeles. There was plenty of fun young looks to choose from whilst picking out my Best Dressed. The IT Girls of the moment such as Leighton Meester, Blake Lively, Emma Stone and Selena Gomez all looked absolutely gorgeous, as always. I was shocked and awed by Kristen Stewart's look, she hasn't looked this good since she cut in that bloody awful mullet for her appearance in The Runaways. I love that she's rocking pale skin with her mini dress, this gives me hope for my albino-esque pins.
It wasn't just Hollywood's young blood who looked good last night, hot mama's Reese Witherspoon and Bryce Dallas Howard gave them a run for their money. After a few slip ups with her red carpet looks of late (most notably that look at Cannes), pregnant Bryce looked gorgeous in this nude and pink floaty number, proving that maternity doesn't have to equal frumpy.

Rosie Huntington-Whitely in Dolce & Gabbana

Selena Gomez in Giambattista Valli

Another highlight from last night's show was the premiere of the trailer for Breaking Dawn, I know I shouldn't be, because I'm not a 13 year old girl, but I'm SO EXCITED!

Music Monday: Help Me Out With This One?

Is this song good or not? I really can't decide! Nicola Roberts, of Girls Aloud fame, is the third member of the girl group to come out with a solo project. The song is quite different to everything that's coming out at the moment, but I'm not sure whether I appreciate this or not? Although it must be said, I'm glad she's not another try-hard having a go at becoming the next Rhianna (Nicole Scherzinger on Britain's Got Talent anyone?).

Back to the point, Nicola's song is really catchy, the L.O.V.E bit stays in your head for hours, but is this in a good this-is-going-to-be-this-year's-summer-anthem way, or in a Rebbeca Black's Friday way?

She does look good in the video though, don't you think? I love the blonde and ginger ombre hair (something I'm sporting myself at the moment, albeit not on purpose) and the Suno outfit. Her face is weird in parts when she's miming though, like she doesn't want to open her mouth too wide or something?

Anyway, I shall stop disecting now and let you make up your own mind about the song and the video. Let me know what you think.

Weekend Shopping List

This weekend I will be going to look at a couple of houses that could potentially be my next home. Here is what I would like from said home...

A Living room with high ceilings, a wood burning fire and neutral decor.

A quaint country style kitchen, decorated in a girly vintage style, from which I can bake cookies and cupcakes and whatnot.

A marble bathroom with a super deep tub (open fire optional).

A bedroom with lots of windows to allow plenty of sunshine in. Much to the annoyence of my I-need-total-darkness-to-sleep boyfriend I would imagine.

A pink room from which to do all my writing. A girly blog needs girly inspiration after all.

A sunroom with huge glass windows and super comfy sofas to lounge on whilst drinking raspberry mojitos mixed at the (just out of shot) bar.

A library with ladders, because no home is complete without one.

I don't think this is too much to ask of a £400 a month budget in Huddersfield, do you?
