Parisienne Chic

After my gushing Chloé post yesterday, I bring you yet another lovey dovey post about the eternally elegant Clémence Poésy. First brought to our (well, my) attention playing the role of Fleur Delacour in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, this gorgeous Parisienne has the kind of style that I will spend my life trying to recreate.

Anyone who knows me, will know that I dress pretty simply. I’m not a fan of jewelry or lots of accessories, even though I feel like I should be after seeing how amazing they make Olivia Palermo look. But the gorgeous Clémence proves that you don’t have to embellish to be stylish. I love how simple she keeps her look, favouring labels such as Chloe (for whom she is the face of their eponymous fragrance, bottom picture) and Chanel to showcase her classic French chic.

There are quite a lot of images on this post, but I just simply couldn’t whittle them down without missing out a gorgeous look. I’m sure you will appreciate them nevertheless. The first five images are of Poésy at various events, mainly Chanel fashion shows of course. Her she is showing off her natural flair for fashion. I’m pretty sure she doesn’t work with a stylist, but if she does I can imagine that she would have a lot of input into the final look as everything she wears just looks incredibly and naturally effortless. I’m also loving the darker shade of blonde that she’s sporting at the Chanel SS11 show (top image) and the tousled waves, which you know I’m a HUGE fan of.

The next eight images are of her in character mode as Eva in Gossip Girl, the new French girlfriend of super hot Chuck Bass. Eric Daman (the stylist on Gossip Girl) has done an amazing job with this character, she is French chic personified but not in a clichéd way. Perfection. I’m particularly in love with the Carlos Miele dress (5th from the bottom) she wore in the Fashion’s Night Out episode (The Undergraduates). With her hair un-done and fresh make up, she puts the other characters to shame with her natural gorgeousness.

I think channeling the French, particularly the Parisienne, way of dressing is the way forward for me. Simple, stylish and chic are my keywords of the month. Now, where did I put my berét?

Picture of the Day

As it seems to be a day for wishing I was a princess...Oh how I wish I got to wear gorgeous couture gowns everyday (or at all). Drew Barrymore demonstrates a particularly spectacular Chanel Haute Couture one here. when I grow up I want to be Drew in this picture (click it for a larger view).

Coveting Chloé

Oh my gosh, I want the Chloé collection so badly! SS 11 is throwing some gorgeously feminine silhouettes out there. I have seen some beautiful floaty chiffon dresses and full skirts that I am dying to have hanging in my wardrobe. I have a weakness for anything that could possibly make me look like a Disney princess (I refuse to believe that just because I’m technically a ‘grown up’ or whatever that I can’t still dream to one day be a princess…) therefore, the new Chloé collection is (adopts a Geordie accent in the style of Cheryl talking to Cher Lloyd) “right up my street”.

I’m seriously praying that the high street will do some amazing (and affordable) copies of these pleated wonders. I want to be able to swan around in a regal fashion, pretending I’m a ballerina and random points of my choosing, and the Chloé collection (or copies of it) would allow me to do just this.

Lara in Vogue

I’ve still not even taken the paper wrap around off my October issue of Vogue yet, but I’m already pining after the new issue. My uber favourite model, the lovely Lara Stone, graces the cover of the November issue, and looks absolutely beautiful whilst doing so. I really can’t wait to get hold of (and actually read!) this issue. Along with what I can only assume will be a gorgeous editorial featuring Lara, there is an article on the one and only Marc Jacobs which, I’m sure, will be an interesting read.

Also, from what I’ve read on Coco’s Tea Party, there are editorial spreads featuring two of my other favourite models at the moment, Jessica Stam and Dree Hemingway.

Looks like I’m going to have to speed read my October issue as November looks like one I’m going to have to open right away... Although I did say that about last month’s. I really need to start finding myself some down time!

Cheryl Cole: Prima Ballerina

When I first heard this song, I distinctly remember my initial thought being “What the F is with the random French?” But the more I listen to it the more I love Promise This. It would seem that Ms Cole is about to strike gold (or platinum) yet again. She looks absolutely stunning in the opening shots of the video. Her eye make up is incredibly fierce, and paired with a nude lip its very on trend with its sixties vibe. Now, this might not make sense, but have you ever noticed that when eye make up is swept up and out, and hair is swept off the face, it can make there wearer look bitchy? Like, in an ‘I’m-a-complete-bad-ass-so-don’t-even-try-to-fuck-with-me’ kind of way though, so it’s a complement.

I really wish she hadn’t put her extensions back in. Her hair was gorgeous at mid-length, it looked healthy and glossy but not in a fake way. But I like how they’ve pinned her hair up throughout the video, especially in the over-exagerated bun with the red dress (more about that in a minute) very Carrie Bradshaw-esque.

I love the sassy mini dress at the beginning of the video. I think short hem lengths look even sexier with long sleeves. See kids, it’s good to leave some things to the imagination, you don’t have to do legs and breasts to be super hot. The pattern looks like sparkling tree branches in winter, which is mirrored in the background of ballet scene. Ooh very artsy for a pop video.

I’m pretty sure that the red gown that she wears on the ‘balcony’ is the same Bottega Veneta dress that Leighton Meester wore in white to the Emmy Awards in last year. If it isn’t the same dress then it’s very similar. I love this dress, and I’m so glad that the stylist fully showed what it could do with a little help from a wind machine. She looks like a Grecian goddess in her uber posh toga.

Richie Rich

I've just found this shoot that Nicole Richie has done with Harper's Bazaar Arabia. She looks beautiful don't you think? She does way more justice to that floral print Louis Vuitton dress than Katie Holmes did. And I love the car shot, very Betty Draper.

I have long been an admirer of Nicole's style and character. Ever since she was the 'chubby sidekick' of Paris Hilton in The Simple Life, I have been in love with Nicole. I find her totally hilarious and not afraid to be herself. As I think I've mentioned on here before, I think she's amazing proof that you can turn your life around even if you get yourself into a horrendous situation. (She has gone from being hooked on heroin and in and out of jail/ rehab, to a massively successful entrepreneur, style icon and family woman.)

In Love with Lanvin

Paris Fashion Week is in full swing (YES!) and so we have the latest collection from Lanvin. Alber Elbaz told reports that he is not a "cool designer". Journalists say that he is being self depreciating, but I don't think he is as Alber isn't a cool designer. A cool designer to me is someone edgy and quirky and maybe sometimes a bit weird, but Lanvin is nothing like that. Alber Elbaz is a classic designer. He makes that kind of clothes that every woman wants, the kind of clothes that are an investment and never go out of date. The spring summer 2011 collection from the historical French fashion house did not disappoint. My favourite looks were all the one shoulder dresses which were classic Lanivin femininity, and all the designs with a gorgeous full, floaty skirt. My uber favourite look was Karlie Kloss (bottom) in the gorgeous pink and coral dress which you can see in motion on Style.com by finding it here. IN LOVE, this is now in my fantasy daily dressing wardrobe.
