People's Choice Awards 2012: Who Wore it Better? Leather & Lace

Both Kristen Bell (of Veronica Mars, Gossip Girl, and now, House of Lies fame) and Ashley Greene (of Twilight fame, duh) wore a combination of leather and lace on the People's Choice Awards red carpet last night. My question to you is who wore it better?

My vote would go to Kristen without a shadow of a doubt, I love the red Valentino number that she is wearing. Equal amounts cute and sexy, with a mussed up 'do and light make up to complete the look. Ashley looks a bit stiff in her L&L Donna Karan dress, and I'm pretty sure you can see the outline of her pants. Through LEATHER. Maybe she should have requested the next size up because the outline of her underwear is really distracting. Also, I know it's January, but you're in LA not the Artic so its a 'no' to the poloneck.

Nicole Richie's Sophisticated Style

I love Nicole Richie's style. Always have, always will. She was photographed over the weekend at a press conference for her new TV show Fashion Star. The reality show will see Nicole become a mentor to aspiring fashion designers. The first picture is a suit designed by Antonio Berardi and the second look is by Chloe. I'm surprised that Nicole didn't take this opportunity to promote her own Winter Kate clothing range, but nevertheless she looks beautiful. Long gone are the boho days it would seem, although secretly I do miss Boho Nicole. I absolutely ADORE the Antonio Beradi suit, especially the trousers. She looks amazing.

Also, check out how amazing Nicole's hair looks at the moment. I've recently been contemplating fringe (again) and this picture does little to put me off. She also has the most perfect dreamy, creamy blonde.

The Princess and the Premiere

Kate Middleton (or Catherine, The Duchess of Cambridge if you prefer) look sensational last night at the London premiere of Steven Speilberg's new film, War Horse. Her black lace Alice Temperley gown was perfect for the freezing January nighttime event, and fitted her like a glove. I love the shape of the dress with it's 3/4 length sleeves and fishtail skirt. Perfect hair and makeup, as always, completed her look.

I'm really looking forward to seeing War Horse too, but I had a lump in my throat watching the trailer so god knows how I'm going to sit through the feature length! The Daily Mail is reporting that Kate cried 'from start to finish', so if its acceptable for a future Queen/ Princess to shed a tear at a film in public I'm pretty sure I can use this fact in my defence towards any funny looks at my sobs in the cinema.

Mila Kunis for Dior

Another Dior themed post for you here. I was completely unaware that Mila Kunis had been signed up by Dior to be the new face of their handbag range. So when I logged on to Coco's Tea Party to catch up with the week's fashion news, I was pleasently surprised to see three images from Mila's Dior campaign. She looks beautiful, (of course) part Hepburn, part Hitchcock Heroine. The adverts will be in your monthly glossies from next month, but here's the preview to tide you over until then...

Dior Couture: The Dress You Dream Of

Here is something wonderful to finish off your week. These are some selected images from the book Dior Couture by Patrick Demarchelier. I'd heard about the book and thought it sounded pretty amazing, but now I'm 100% sure that I NEED to own a copy. This is as close to works of art that fashion gets. The couture pieces in the book range from 1947 to present day. Demarchielier describes working with the clothes in the best way: “When you’re a fashion photographer, you must inspire a dream, with Dior Haute Couture, the dream is already there.” The dress in the last image on the left hand side litterally made me gasp.

My Ultimate Style Icon of 2011: Mila Kunis at the 2011 OSCARs

There was one dress that blew all other red carpet looks out of the water for me in 2011. That was the lilac Elie Saab gown that made Mila Kunis GLOW at the 2011 Academy Awards. I loved this dress on the runway, and so to see it on my Girl Crush of the Year (well, joint GCOTY, along with Emma Stone) made me over the moon.

Mila had an amazing awards season, style-wise. The beautiful actress wore a stunning green gown, by Vera Wang, to the Golden Globes and a red printed Alexander McQueen number to the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

I'm so excited for this year's awards season, which kicks off later this month, BRING ON THE GLAMOUR!

Style Icons of 2011: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

This year's model-turned-actress buzz surrounded Britain's very own, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. The girl with the body of a goddess and hair I would kill for, had an amazing style year both on and off the red carpet. Her love of body-hugging silk numbers on the red carpet (more often than not, created by Christopher Bailey at Burberry Prorsum) and chic Isabel Marant pieces for her off-duty looks, cemented Rosie as the one to watch in 2011. Again, it's really hard to pick a favourite Rosie look, but I love the navy blue gown she wore to the London premiere of Transformers 3, the nude cocktail dress she wore to a Burberry event, and the silver shimmering number she wore to a German Transformers 3 premiere. And I love this off duty look, with the hat and the IM jacket, it screams "Supermodel!". My first new year's resolution is to achieve the RH-W shade of blonde.
