It has been widely reported over the weekend that Zac Posen will be designing Bella Swan’s wedding dress for the epic Twilight Saga finale, Breaking Dawn. The New York based designer, who sketched out his interpretation of the infamous dress for In Style way back in August 2009, would be a good choice for the role as his designs are often influenced by the glamorous past.
His evening gowns, most often seen on the most exclusive of red carpets, are inspired by old-Hollywood, so I have no doubt that his Bella Swan gown would be a showstopper. He is, of course, no stranger to designing A List bridal gowns. He made Portia de Rossi’s gorgeous dress for her wedding to Ellen DeGeneres and, most recently, Coco Rocha’s gown for her big day earlier this year.
I’ve picked some of my favourite gowns from his Fall 2009 collection (1-4) and from the most recent collection, Spring 2011 (5-8). A blend of any of these fabulous frocks would look amazing on screen…
I must say though, my favourite fantasy dresses from the 10 sketches that were done for In Style were these by Monique Lhuillier and Lela Rose (especially the Monique Lhuillier). I have followed each of the sketches with a couple of my favourite looks from their most current (spring 2011) collections. Some of which you may have seen in my Fashion Week posts back in September/ October…

I’m obsessed with weddings. I don’t know why because I’ve only ever been to one wedding in my whole life and that was attended by 5 people (including the bride and groom) and it was a spur-of-the-moment-in-a-registry-office type of affair. But I love a good wedding scene on film or TV. A personal favourite has to be Nathan and Hayley’s second wedding on One Tree Hill, and I can’t wait for Brooke’s big day in the current series! I think, if done well, the Breaking Dawn wedding scene could make its way onto my top 5 list of Best Ever Wedding Moments. I love this scene in the book, even though it makes many people want to throw up with over-the-top sentimentality, I think its lush.

UPDATE 16.11.2010: Zac Posen has denied these rumours on Twitter. Yes! There is still hope for a Monique Lhuillier/ Bella Swan collaboration.
